Terms of Use
CanIFlyWithMyBattery is an independent, free informational service about flying with power banks and other spare lithium-ion batteries. By using it, you agree to these terms.
Not affiliated with any authority, airline or maker
CanIFlyWithMyBattery is not affiliated with, authorized by, sponsored by or operated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), any airline or airport, or any battery maker or seller.
Information, not official advice
The limits shown (100 Wh and 160 Wh) are the general FAA and IATA rules for spare lithium-ion batteries. Airlines, countries and airports can set stricter rules, and rules change. Whether a battery can fly is decided by your airline and by airport security staff, not by CanIFlyWithMyBattery. Check your airline’s rules before you fly.
Battery details and results can be wrong
Battery details are compiled from makers’ published specifications and can contain errors or be out of date. Makers revise products, and counterfeits exist. Always go by the label on your own battery. Calculator results come from the numbers you enter and are only as accurate as those numbers. If you find a mistake, email [email protected].
No warranty; limitation of liability
CanIFlyWithMyBattery is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including about the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of its information. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CanIFlyWithMyBattery is not liable for confiscated or surrendered batteries, denied boarding, missed flights, delays, fees, or any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the service.
Sources
The limits come from the FAA’s PackSafe guidance on lithium batteries and IATA’s lithium battery guidance. Battery details come from makers’ published specifications.
